NASCAR Preseason Thunder Fan Fest dates, which will coincide with January's NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and NASCAR Busch Series testing sessions at the "World Center of Racing," will be held on the following days:

. Jan. 10 NASCAR Nextel Cup Fan Fest
. Jan. 13: NASCAR Craftsman Truck Fan Fest
. Jan. 17: NASCAR Nextel Cup Fan Fest
. Jan. 21: NASCAR Busch Fan Fest

The Fan Fest events, which include fan forums, bands, show cars, pit stop demonstrations and displays, start at 5 p.m. but fans will be able to enter the NEXTEL FANZONE beginning at 9 a.m. to watch all of the exciting testing action. Admissions for the NEXTEL Cup Fan Fest dates are $15 while Busch and Craftsman Truck Series admissions are $10.

Fans can watch all of the January testing sessions free from the Oldfield Grandstands located just outside of DAYTONA USA:

• Day 1 Testing Underway: Jeremy Mayfield, driver of the Evernham Motorsports No. 19 Dodge, was the first on track as NASCAR Jackson Hewitt Preseason Thunder kicked off at historic Daytona International Speedway. The odd-numbered NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series teams will test for the next three days in preparation for the Feb. 19 Daytona 500, NASCAR's biggest, richest and most prestigious race. Among the drivers in attendance for this week's session include 2005 Daytona 500 champion Jeff Gordon, 2004 Daytona 500 champion Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Bobby Labonte, Bill Elliott, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman and Elliott Sadler.

Jan. 7, 2006:

• Jackson Hewitt to sponsor Daytona Preseason testing days: Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, the nation's second largest tax preparation service and the tax service of NASCAR, will serve as the sponsor for all of the NASCAR testing at historic Daytona International Speedway as well as the popular FanFests. The event will be known as NASCAR Jackson Hewitt Preseason Thunder. "We are honored to have this opportunity to sponsor the highly anticipated, fan-favorite series of events that is NASCAR Preseason Thunder," said Michael Lister, Chairman and CEO of Jackson Hewitt Tax Service. Dec..15, 2005:

• Dale Jr. to test at Daytona: Dale Earnhardt Jr. says the Dec. 9 surgery he had on his left wrist will not keep him from preseason testing at Daytona. This week's edition of NASCAR Scene reports that Earnhardt Jr. said he would be able test a car approximately 10 days after the surgery, if necessary. (NASCAR Scene Daily Newsletter)

• 2006 Daytona test dates set: NASCAR announced the 2006 dates for Daytona preseason testing Sunday. Teams in the odd-number rankings in the car owner points after Sunday's race will test at Daytona on Jan. 9-11 with Jan. 12 as the rain date. Teams in the even-number rankings in the car owner points standings will test at Daytona on Jan. 16-18 with a rain date of Jan. 19. Of course, NASCAR allows some teams to switch test dates if needed.
