Sadler could return to No. 19 in 2011? Richard Petty Motorsports plans to have a three- to four-car stable next season that includes AJ Allmendinger and Paul Menard, vice president of race operations Robbie Loomis said on Saturday at Chicagoland Speedway. Loomis also didn't close the door on re-signing Elliott Sadler, who declared himself a free agent on Friday and said he didn't expect to return to the organization. "We have interest [in Sadler]," Loomis said. "Elliott is among three or four drivers who is on the table we're looking at. The bottom line is, I always say this, we're in the performing business and when you're performing it's easier for everything." Sadler ranks 28th in points, but Loomis hopes the addition of crew chief Todd Parrott can turn the No. 19 team around. "I don't think the door is closed by any means," Loomis said. "Elliott is a talented racecar driver. For whatever reason we haven't been able to put together the finishes we need. There's been a lot of changes we've made over the years, even before I got there. We really felt like putting Todd in there is going to be the real measuring stick with where we're at with that race team." Although Allmendinger is talking to several other teams, Loomis expects him to return to the famed No. 43 and be the anchor of the organization with Kasey Kahne headed to Hendrick Motorsports. "We know where we're at,'' Loomis said of Allmendinger's contract negotiations. "We just need to get our I's dotted and T's crossed."(ESPN.com)

Sadler says its unlikely he'll return to No. 19 in 2011: Elliott Sadler said Friday that he does not expect to be back with Richard Petty Motorsports after this season and that he's had talks with car owners about a ride in 2011 and could be a month or so from announcing his new plans. Here's what Sadler (in part) said Friday at Chicagoland Speedway: "I want to race. My dad and I talk about this every week when I get home. Me and the 19 car have had our differences in the past. We have definitely worked through that. Foster (Gillett, who oversees the team) has been very open-minded and very honest the last couple of months of trying to make our team better to end the season strong. I don't fit into their future plans. We haven't talked about anything 2011 at all. Me as far as what they're doing and what we're doing. So we're definitely going on our different ways, but we need to end up this season as strong as we can. I think it will help me try to find something, land something for next year and I think it will help them land a driver that I think fits into what they're trying to do in the future. At this moment I do not expect at all to be back with this organization. I feel really good in the area my career is going next year. I've had a lot of good talks with a couple of different car owners in the last month and a half, two months and we'll see where it takes us. I should know something here in the next month or month and a half on what my future will be for next year. (that will be dependent on sponsorship). We've had some awesome conversations.''(Virginian Pilot)

Saturday's event will mark Sadler's 17th career NSCS start at Phoenix International Raceway. I get to do a job I really love, work with really great people and I've been able to win some races along the way. Its crazy though how fast time has gone by since my first full season in 1999."(RPM PR)

Air Force to serve as primary sponsor for No. 19 in five races: Air Force officials begin the 10th year of sponsorship in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series by renewing the partnership with Richard Petty Motorsports for the 2010 season. Executives at GSD&M Idea City, the Air Force's advertising agency, organized the sponsorship and will roll out a multi-media advertising campaign to support the partnership in early 2010. For this year's sponsorship, representatives of Richard Petty Motorsports have chosen the No. 19 car driven by Elliot Sadler to represent the Air Force. The Air Force will feature the dark blue paint scheme on the No. 19 Ford in five of 38 NASCAR races this season. "We are thrilled to have Richard Petty Motorsports as partners for another NASCAR season with the Air Force '19' car," said Col. Michael J. Tillema, AFRS chief of strategic marketing and communications. Sadler in a Ford at Talladega: Elliott Sadler’s No. 19 Stanley car will race as a Ford for the first time in NASCAR Sprint Cup competition this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Sadler is racing the Ford Fusion in preparation for Richard Petty Motorsports switch to Ford beginning in 2010. Sadler will return to his familiar No. 19 Dodge entry for the final three races of 2009. ON DRIVING A FORD AT TALLADEGA: “Richard Petty Motorsports is working with Ford Racing as we get ready to make the full-time switch at Daytona in 2010. Since this is the final restrictor plate race of the season, we made the decision to run a Ford to get some work done in advance. This will be our first time to practice and work on a Fusion under real race conditions. It should help us get ready to make a strong showing at Daytona and put us in the best position to start next season. I’ll be back in a Dodge at Texas, Phoenix and Homestead, but since it’s important to start a season off on the right foot we thought we’d try to get a head start.”(RPM)

Sadler declines to comment on report: Elliott Sadler declined to comment specifically on the story today, saying simply, "I am committed to my race team, and have a contract through the end of the 2010 season." While Richard Childress and the Emporia, Va., driver do speak from time to time, it's generally about hunting, not racing. And well-placed sources at sources at RCR tell Sirius Speedway that there have been no talks about bringing Sadler to the team in 2010.(Sirius Speedway)

E. Sadler to RCR? Rumors persist that Elliott Sadle will move into the No. 07 Chevrolet next season. Jack Daniels wants to return, but for a limited schedule. Sadler would be a bargain for RCR. Another option? JTG Racing, if Tad Geschickter expands his operation. Sadler still has a year on his contract with Richard Petty Motorsports but would be doing that company a favor if he left. The organization would be stronger with a three-car squad than stretching resources to run four teams.(FOXSports.com)

Elliott Sadler regrets twitter comment: A tweet after Monday's race at Pocono got Elliott Sadler in trouble. After finishing 24th, he tweeted: "Frustrating day today. Not good early worked on it a lot and actually got it pretty good. Drove up to 11th and ran out of tires. Yep OUT!" In another tweet from Sadler shortly after that, it included: "Yep ran out of tires. That's hard to swallow!" A few hours later, Sadler's tone changed. He stated: "I want to tweet everyone and tell them I really upset my team earlier. My tweet was confusing to read. We had gone thru all the tires we were allowed for the day. I didn't know that in the car or I would have used different strategy. 100 percent my fault. Nobody to blame but me." Teams were allowed to purchase up to 10 sets of tires for Monday's race. (Virginian-Pilot)

Sadler to run new Dodge engine at Pocono: Elliott Sadler will run the new Dodge R6P8 engine for the second time in 2009. Sadler finished 40th last week at Indianapolis due to mechanical problems early in the race. Sadler is tied with Tony Stewart for the longest active DNF streak (43 races) of drivers that have competed in every race. Regan Smith is at 52 races, but has not competed in every race during that span. Sadler has the longest all-time and active streak of races at Pocono without a DNF (21). Sadler has never recorded a DNF in his career at Pocono Raceway.(RPM PR)
