Reed Sorenson, 2009 LENOX Industrial Tools 301 Sprint Cup Race Preview

Press Release

STATESVILLE, N.C — Loudon New Hampshire might seem a long way from Peachtree City, Georgia but if you listen to McDonald’s McCafe Dodge driver Reed Sorenson talk you would think New Hampshire Motor Speedway is his hometown track. The 23-year-old Richard Petty Motorsports driver lists New Hampshire as one of his favorite tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit and the results back up that statement. Sorenson posted a sixth-place finish at this race last year and has led 40 laps in his six starts completing all but one lap. He’s started in the top 13 in four out of the six races.

Sorenson Quotes

SORENSON ON NEW HAMSPHIRE SPEEDWAY- “I don’t know why I like that track so much. I guess I am just naturally comfortable there. Maybe its like some of the tracks I raced on growing up or in the ASA (American Speed Association). Whatever the reason I like racing at that place. The Bahre family built a really cool track and the Speedway Motorsports people will make it even better. I hope they don’t ever change the configuration. I like it just the way it is now.”

NEW HAMSPHIRE FANS: “I grew up in Georgia and wasn’t that familiar with the racing in the Northeast. But the fans up there are just as rabid of racing fans as anywhere in the country. They love their racing. As a driver you like going places where the fans really appreciate the sport. I’m a big Braves fan so I hope most of them are mad at me after the Braves beat the Red Sox in interleague play this week, but I think we’ll all agree about racing.”

DOUBLE FILE RESTARTS AT NHMS: “I think that will be one of the biggest differences the fans coming to this year’s races will notice. I like it a lot. It sure does make it more interesting. It’s made the races better in the first three races we have tried it and I don’t think that will change this weekend. I think you will see a lot of fender rubbing on Sunday.”

Additional Notes of Interest

· Sunday marks Sorenson’s 126th Sprint Cup race. He will race chassis 267 this weekend.

· Richard Petty will be available at 10 a.m. Saturday in the New Hampshire Speedway media center.
